Gran exito Rocio 2020!
Los días 6, 7 y 8 de marzo fueron mágicos, ya que los asistentes estarían de acuerdo. Fue una celebración inolvidable de Rocío y probablemente una de las mejores hasta ahora.
Cada año, este evento ve a las comunidades locales, intraestatales e interestatales españolas reunirse para disfrutar de este evento lleno de diversión y alegría. Este año participaron más lugareños de Heathcote y, como verán en las muchas fotos en la galería del sitio web, ¡lo pasaron genial!
Entonces, ¿qué hizo al Rocío tan especial este año? ¿Dónde empiezo? En primer lugar, tuvimos dos jinetes adicionales con sus caballos de Fresia y Andalucía que se unieron a la peregrinación de Rocío. Tiffany Ayres viene cada año desde South Australia, más recientemente con su caballo andaluz, Esperanza, y este año se les unieron Cliff Marisma y Renae Lotherington y sus caballos, Marisma Remus y Marisma Emperious de Ballarat, Victoria. Ver a los caballos y sus jinetes interactuar con las multitudes fue realmente sorprendente y conmovedor y nos asombraban constantemente las habilidades de los jinetes y los caballos.
El grupo flamenco andaluz de Geelong nos entretuvo una vez más con su música, canción y baile. Nunca dejan de sorprender con sus repertorios, y este año fue extraordinario. Especialmente conmovedora fue su última actuación el domingo, que estuvo dedicada a Pepe y Pepi Hernández, quienes fundaron el grupo hace muchos años y que han alentado a las bailarinas, desde que eran muy jóvenes, a continuar aprendiendo y convertirse en talentosas bailarinas de flamenco que son hoy.
Tuvimos mucha suerte de que nuestros invitados VIP se unieran a nosotros en el almuerzo del domingo. Asistieron la Canciller Laura Puga Molina del Consulado español y su esposo, y la Alcaldesa Cr Margaret O’Rourke y Cr Rod Fyffe de City of Greater Bendigo. Les agradecemos su continuo apoyo al Rocío.
En nombre del Comité, deseo agradecer a todos los voluntarios cuyos esfuerzos incansables y generosos aseguran que el Rocío funcione sin problemas, permitiendo a todos los participantes disfrutar de tres días de diversión, relajación y deliciosa cocina española.
Finalmente, deseo agradecer al Comité del Rocío. Su dedicación no pasa desapercibida, y el trabajo que realiza es un reflejo significativo de un grupo de personas unido y trabajador cuyo compromiso asegura que el Rocío continúe siendo una celebración de diversión y amistad.
El año que viene, el Rocío sera dos días en lugar de los tres habituales. Las fechas son sábado y domingo, 6 y 7 de marzo de 2021.

————————————————-The 6th, 7th and 8th of March were magical as those who attended would agree. It was an unforgettable Rocio celebration and probably one of the best so far.
Every year this event sees locals, intrastate and interstate Spanish communities come together to enjoy this fun-filled and joyous event. This year we saw once again, more Heathcote locals participate and as you will see by the many photos on the website galley that they had a blast of a time!
So, what made the Rocio so special this year? Where do I begin? First and foremost, we had an additional two riders with their Fresian and Andalusian horses join the Rocio pilgrimage. Tiffany Ayres has been coming every year from South Australia, most recently with her Andalusian horse, Esperanza, and this year they were joined by Cliff Marisma and Renae Lotherington and their horses, Marisma Remus and Marisma Emperious from Ballarat, Victoria. To see the horses and their riders interact with the crowds was truly amazing and heart-warming and we were constantly awed by the skills of both riders and horses.
The Geelong Andalusian Flamenco group once again entertained us with their music, song and dance. They never cease to amaze with their repertoires, and this year was no different. Especially poignant and moving was their last performance on the Sunday which was dedicated to Pepe and Pepi Hernandez who founded the group many years ago and who have encouraged the dancers, since they were very young, to continue to learn and grow into the highly-talented flamenco dancers they are today.
We were very fortunate to have our VIP guests join us at the Sunday luncheon. In attendance were Chancellor Laura Puga Molina of the Spanish Consulate and her husband, and Mayor Cr Margaret O’Rourke and Cr Rod Fyffe from the City of Greater Bendigo. We thank them for their ongoing support of the Rocio Festival.
On behalf of the Committee, I wish to thank all volunteers whose tireless and selfless efforts ensure the Rocio runs smoothly, allowing all participants to enjoy three days of fun, relaxation and delicious Spanish cuisine.
Finally, I wish to thank the Rocio Committee. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and the work you do is a significant reflection of a united and hard-working group of individuals whose commitment ensures that the Rocio continues to be a celebration of fun and friendship.
Next year the Rocio will run over two days as opposed to the usual three. The dates are Saturday and Sunday, 6 and 7 March 2021.

Olé, Olé, y Olé El Rocio 2018!
What a happy, fun-filled and joyous Rocio this year was! Plus the weather could not have been better with blue skies and lots of glorious sunshine which added to the festive ambience of the Rocio in Heathcote, Victoria.
Again this year, we saw a record number of attendees over the three days of the festival, with most attending on Saturday and Sunday.
People came from near and far – locals from Heathcote (with more attending this year) and visitors from Bendigo, Melbourne and interstate. We even had a visitor from Spain, Javier Serrano Martin, a young man from Malaga, who entertained us with his flamenco singing and dancing as well as playing guitar, drum and the Spanish cajon. A young man of many talents! A huge thank you Javier for all the joy you brought us at this year’s Rocio. We were very fortunate to have you with us and sincerely appreciate it.
Thank you to our sponsor, Victorian Multicultural Commission whose ongoing financial and moral support contributes to the success of the Rocio. Also thank you to Juan Carlos Gafo, Spanish Consul General and his wife, Cristina and Mayor of City of Greater Bendigo, Cr Margaret O’Rourke for attending the Sunday luncheon and for your continued support of el Rocio in Heathcote.
Once again, a huge thank you to Tiffany Ayres and her mum, Joy who travelled a long distance from South Australia with their beautiful Spanish horse, Esperanza. It was Esperanza’s first time at the Rocio and everyone fell in love with her. She willingly and patiently posed for many photos and sometimes even cuddled up to the Spanish señoritas as she posed for photos– very endearing and photogenic indeed!
We cannot forget the very talented Geelong Andalucia Group who every year perform their flamenco dancing accompanied by singers, guitars, castanets and the cajon. They are mesmerising to watch and display so much grace and skill. Thank you for your fraternity and contribution year after year!
This year Milenko Bacalja displayed photographs that he took at the Rocio 2017 in the RSL Hall. Many people bought copies of his beautiful prints with donations going towards the Association. Many thanks Milenko!
Last but not least, a massive thank you goes to the committee and volunteers. An enormous amount of work goes into this event which would not run smoothly without your dedication, commitment and hard work.

Que Rocio más alegre ha sido este año! Ademas el tiempo no pudo estar mejor con cielos azules y un sol brillante que sumó al ambiente festivo del Rocio en Heathcote, Victoria.
Otra vez este año, hemos visto un numero record de asistentes en los tres dias de la fiesta, la mayoria asistiendo el sábado y domingo.
Gente vino de cerca y de lejos – locales de Heathcote (con más asistiendo este año), visitantes de Bendigo, Melbourne y interestatal. Tambien tuvimos un visitante de España, Javier Serrano Martin, un chico joven de Málaga que nos alegró con su cante y baile flamenco y con la guitarra, tambor y el cajón. Un joven de muchos talentos! Muchisimas gracias Javier por toda la alegria que has traido al Rocio este año. Fuimos realmente afortunados tenerte con nosotros y sinceramente lo apreciamos.
Gracias a nuestro patrocinador, Victorian Multicultural Commission por su apoyo financiero y moral contínuo que contribuye al éxito del Rocio. Gracias tambien a D Juan Carlos Gafo, Consul General de España y su esposa, Cristina, y la Alcaldesa de City of Greater Bendigo, Cr Margaret O’Rourke por su asistencia a la comida del domingo y por su apoyo contínuo del Rocio en Heathcote.

Muy entrañable y fotogénica!
No podemos olvidar el muy talentoso Grupo de Andalucia de Geelong que todos los años realizan su baile flamenco acompañado por cantantes, guitarras, castañuelas, cajón y palmas. Son fascinantes para ver y muestran tanta gracia y habilidád. Muchas gracias por vuestra fraternidad y contribución año tras año.
Este año Milenko Bacalja mostro sus fotografías del Rocio 2017 en el salon del RSL. Estas preciosas fotografías fueron compradas por muchas personas con donaciones destinadas a la Asociación.
Por ultimo, si bien no menos importante, un gran agradecimiento va al comité y los voluntarios. Una enorme cantidad de trabajo entra en este evento que no funcionaría sin problemas sin vuestra dedicación y compromiso.

Rocio Picnic – Werribee Park (Melbourne)
Another great Rocio picnic enjoyed by all who partook in this fun-filled day at Werribee Park, Melbourne.
Even though the weather wasn’t very kind to us, we nonetheless saw a high number of attendees. The rain did not dampen the enthusiasm and festive cheer of those present!Lunch was scrumptious and included canapes, chorizos in white wine, vegetable salad, bread roll and dessert. The food was prepared and cooked on site by committee members and volunteers.
Thank you to the committee and volunteers for all their help to ensure a happy and memorable picnic day which was enjoyed by all. Above all, a huge thank you to our members and non-members who attended – it is your support that enables these fabulous family events to happen!

Otro gran picnic del Rocio disfrutado por todos que participaron en un dia armonioso y divertido en Werribee park, Melbourne.
Aunque el tiempo no fue favorable, tuvimos un gran numero de asistentes. La lluvia no disminuyo el entusiasmo y alegria festiva de los presentes!La comida estuvo riquisima e incluyo canapes, chorizos en vino blanco, ensalada de verduras, bollo de pan y postre. La comida fue preparada y cocinada por por el comité y voluntarios.
Gracias a la directiva y voluntarios por su ayuda que aseguro un dia de picnic feliz y memorable disfrutado por todos. Sobre todo, muchas gracias a los socios y simpatizantes que asistieron – su apoyo nos permite que estos fabulosos eventos familiares secedan!

Gran exito Rocio 2017
This year‘s El Rocio in Heathcote, Victoria was yet again another magnificent event and a huge success! Over the three days of the festival, locals and visitors came together to celebrate El Rocio that occurs in southern Spain every year in the summer.
This year, El Rocio was jam packed with lots of fun, entertainment, singing and dancing, and saw participants enjoying traditional Spanish food and drinks, like the typical paella and sangria.
The preparations for El Rocio start months before the event and a lot of hard work goes into the logistics and organisation of the activities that occur over the three-day period. It is thanks to the hard work of the committee members and volunteers that ensures a smooth running of this popular event.
A big thank you goes to our sponsors, City of Greater Bendigo and Victorian Multicultural Commission. Undoubtedly, without their ongoing support and partnership, this celebration would not have been possible.
We also wish to thank the Geelong Andalucia Group for their fraternity and the flamenco dancing and singing they provide for all to enjoy. It truly makes us feel that we are in Andalucia, Spain when they perform!
Thank you also to Tiffany Ayres and her beautiful horse, Romanzo who year after year, make the long journey from South Australia to El Rocio in Heathcote. Their participation, which is a significant representation of El Rocio, is appreciated and welcomed by all.

El Rocio en Heathcote, Victoria este año fue otra vez un evento magnífico y un gran éxito! En los tres dias del festival, la gente local y visitantes se juntaron para celebrar El Rocio que ocurre en el verano todos los años en el sur de España.
Este año, El Rocio estuvo lleno de mucha diversión, actividades, actuaciones, cante y baile, y participantes disfrutando de comidas y bebidas tradicionales, como la paella y la sangria.
Los preparativos para El Rocio empiezan meses antes del evento y mucho trabajo entra en la logística y organización de las actividades que suceden durante el periodo de los tres dias. Gracias al comité y los voluntarios porque su trabajo y dedicación asegura un buen funcionamento de este evento popular.
Un gran agradecimiento para nuestros patrocinadores, City of Greater Bendigo y Victorian Multicultural Commission. Indudablemente, sin su apoyo y asociación, esta celebración no hubiera sido posible.
Tambien queremos dar las gracias al Grupo Andalucia de Geelong por su fraternidad, y el baile y cante flamenco para que todos disfrutemos. Realmente nos hace sentir que estamos en Andalucia, España cuando actuan.

Gran exito Rocio 2016
This year marked the 5th anniversary of the Rocio Festival in Heathcote which saw record numbers attending over the three days of the event. We wish to thank everyone who attended as without your participation, the Festival would not have been the success that it was. We wish to acknowledge and thank Community Bank Heathcote Branch, City of Greater Bendigo and Victorian Multicultural Commission who are our sponsors of the Rocio Spanish Festival. Undoubtedly, without their support and partnership, this celebration would not have been possible.
We wish to also thank all the volunteers who are always there doing whatever it takes to ensure that all our events run seamlessly and smoothly.

En un acto de presentación celebrado el pasado día 24 de Octubre, el Community Bank Heathcote Branch entregó a este comité su aportación como patrocinador oficial del festival de 2013, que se celebrará los días 15, 16 y 17 de Marzo de 2013.
“Uno de los retos con Heathcote es la falta de alojamiento para celebrar un festival de estas dimensiones. El comité organizador del festival ha reservado todo el alojamiento disponible, Community Bank Heathcote Branch patrocinará transporte en autobús para superar este problema.

Saludo de la presidenta Teresa Martínez.
Bienvenidos a la página web de la Hermandad Rociera Andaluza de Victoria.
Hace ahora el año que unas cuantas personas nos reunimos con la intención de ver las posibilidades de crear en Victoria nuestro propio Rocío. De aquel primer encuentro surgió un entusiasta grupo dispuesto a trabajar con un cariño extraordinario para sacar adelante aquella tarea, que un principio parecía una labor titánica. No había mucho tiempo para organizar todo aquello que día a día se hacía más difícil y complicado.
Una de las principales tareas era encontrar un lugar adecuado para celebrarlo, había que tener un sitio que reuniese todo lo necesario para poder celebrarlo, la distancia desde Melbourne era uno de los aspectos más importantes. Después de visitar varios pueblos cercanos encontramos un precioso lugar que reunía casi todo aquello que buscábamos, Heathcote, situado a unos cien km antes de llegar a Bendigo. Desde los primeros contactos con autoridades locales y gente del área, comprobamos el entusiasmo que demostraron a la idea de que se celebrase El Rocio Spanish Festival en el pueblo.
Afortunadamente la colaboración que encontramos por todos fue tan grande, City of Bendigo, Community Bank Heathcote Branch, Multicultural Victoria y otros patrocinadores, que problemas como la falta de fondos, ya que únicamente contábamos con lo poco que reuníamos del importe de los socios que se iban inscribiendo a la organización, pero gracias a todos ellos conseguimos superarlo.
En Marzo de 2012 se celebraba el primer Rocio Spanish Festival in Victoria. El éxito fue mucho mayor de lo previsto, gracias al apoyo de los visitantes, la excelente organización del festival y al incansable esfuerzo, trabajo y dedicación de directivos y voluntarios por su colaboración. Igualmente quiero dar las gracias a los principales patrocinadores; City of Greater Bendigo y Community Bank Heathcote Branch, así como a todos aquellos que con su aportación hacen posible la celebración de El Rocio en Victoria.
De la manera en que ya se está preparando y el apoyo con que contamos, estamos seguros que El Rocio 2013, sobrepasará con creces a los casi quinientos visitantes, durante los tres días de eventos, del pasado festival.

My heart stirs when I listen to flamenco guitar,
my eyes feast as I watch flamenco dancing,
my soul stirs as I listen to Spanish poetry.
