The Association Rociera Anaduluza of Victoria is having a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle fundraiser this Sunday, 12 August at Bunnings Werribee, 55 Cherry Street. Come and have a sausage ($2.50) and a drink ($1.50) or simply come to say hello to the committee and volunteers!
La Asociacion Rociera Andaluza de Victoria ha organizado un Sausage Sizzle en Bunnings Werribee. Vengan a comer una salchicha ($2.50) y una bebida ($1.50) or simplemente venir a decir “hola” al comite y voluntarios!

What a happy, fun-filled and joyous Rocio this year was! Plus the weather could not have been better with blue skies and lots of glorious sunshine which added to the festive ambience of the Rocio in Heathcote, Victoria.

Again this year, we saw a record number of attendees over the three days of the festival, with most attending on Saturday and Sunday.

People came from near and far – locals from Heathcote (with more attending this year) and visitors from Bendigo, Melbourne and interstate. We even had a visitor from Spain, Javier Serrano Martin, a young man from Malaga, who entertained us with his flamenco singing and dancing as well as playing guitar, drum and the Spanish cajon. A young man of many talents! A huge thank you Javier for all the joy you brought us at this year’s Rocio. We were very fortunate to have you with us and sincerely appreciate it.

Thank you to our sponsor, Victorian Multicultural Commission whose ongoing financial and moral support contributes to the success of the Rocio. Also thank you to Juan Carlos Gafo, Spanish Consul General and his wife, Cristina and Mayor of City of Greater Bendigo, Cr Margaret O’Rourke for attending the Sunday luncheon and for your continued support of el Rocio in Heathcote.

Once again, a huge thank you to Tiffany Ayres and her mum, Joy who travelled a long distance from South Australia with their beautiful Spanish horse, Esperanza. It was Esperanza’s first time at the Rocio and everyone fell in love with her. She willingly and patiently posed for many photos and sometimes even cuddled up to the Spanish señoritas as she posed for photos– very endearing and photogenic indeed!

We cannot forget the very talented Geelong Andalucia Group who every year perform their flamenco dancing accompanied by singers, guitars, castanets and the cajon. They are mesmerising to watch and display so much grace and skill. Thank you for your fraternity and contribution year after year!

This year Milenko Bacalja displayed photographs that he took at the Rocio 2017 in the RSL Hall. Many people bought copies of his beautiful prints with donations going towards the Association. Many thanks Milenko!

Last but not least, a massive thank you goes to the committee and volunteers. An enormous amount of work goes into this event which would not run smoothly without your dedication, commitment and hard work.

Que Rocio más alegre ha sido este año! Ademas el tiempo no pudo estar mejor con cielos azules y un sol brillante que sumó al ambiente festivo del Rocio en Heathcote, Victoria.

Otra vez este año, hemos visto un numero record de asistentes en los tres dias de la fiesta, la mayoria asistiendo el sábado y domingo.

Gente vino de cerca y de lejos – locales de Heathcote (con más asistiendo este año), visitantes de Bendigo, Melbourne y interestatal. Tambien tuvimos un visitante de España, Javier Serrano Martin, un chico joven de Málaga que nos alegró con su cante y baile flamenco y con la guitarra, tambor y el cajón. Un joven de muchos talentos! Muchisimas gracias Javier por toda la alegria que has traido al Rocio este año. Fuimos realmente afortunados tenerte con nosotros y sinceramente lo apreciamos.

Gracias a nuestro patrocinador, Victorian Multicultural Commission por su apoyo financiero y moral contínuo que contribuye al éxito del Rocio. Gracias tambien a D Juan Carlos Gafo, Consul General de España y su esposa, Cristina, y la Alcaldesa de City of Greater Bendigo, Cr Margaret O’Rourke por su asistencia a la comida del domingo y por su apoyo contínuo del Rocio en Heathcote.

Una vez más, un gran agradecimiento a Tiffany Ayres y su madre, Joy que han viajado una larga distáncia al Rocio desde South Australia con su preciosa yegua española, Esperanza. Este año fue el primer Rocio para Esperanza y todos nos enamoramos de ella. Voluntariamente y pacientemente posó para muchas fotografías y a veces se arrimaba cerca a las flamencas para las fotos. Muy entrañable y fotogénica!

No podemos olvidar el muy talentoso Grupo de Andalucia de Geelong que todos los años realizan su baile flamenco acompañado por cantantes, guitarras, castañuelas, cajón y palmas. Son fascinantes para ver y muestran tanta gracia y habilidád. Muchas gracias por vuestra fraternidad y contribución año tras año.

Este año Milenko Bacalja mostro sus fotografías del Rocio 2017 en el salon del RSL.   Estas preciosas fotografías fueron compradas por muchas personas con donaciones destinadas a la Asociación.

Por ultimo, si bien no menos importante, un gran agradecimiento va al comité y los voluntarios. Una enorme cantidad de trabajo entra en este evento que no funcionaría sin problemas sin vuestra dedicación y compromiso.

This year‘s El Rocio in Heathcote, Victoria was yet again another magnificent event and a huge success! Over the three days of the festival, locals and visitors came together to celebrate El Rocio that occurs in southern Spain every year in the summer.
This year, El Rocio was jam packed with lots of fun, entertainment, singing and dancing, and saw participants enjoying traditional Spanish food and drinks, like the typical paella and sangria.

The preparations for El Rocio start months before the event and a lot of hard work goes into the logistics and organisation of the activities that occur over the three-day period. It is thanks to the hard work of the committee members and volunteers that ensures a smooth running of this popular event.

A big thank you goes to our sponsors, City of Greater Bendigo and Victorian Multicultural Commission. Undoubtedly, without their ongoing support and partnership, this celebration would not have been possible.

We also wish to thank the Geelong Andalucia Group for their fraternity and the flamenco dancing and singing they provide for all to enjoy. It truly makes us feel that we are in Andalucia, Spain when they perform!

Thank you also to Tiffany Ayres and her beautiful horse, Romanzo who year after year, make the long journey from South Australia to El Rocio in Heathcote. Their participation, which is a significant representation of El Rocio, is appreciated and welcomed by all.

El Rocio en Heathcote, Victoria este año fue otra vez un evento magnífico y un gran éxito! En los tres dias del festival, la gente local y visitantes se juntaron para celebrar El Rocio que ocurre en el verano todos los años en el sur de España.

Este año, El Rocio estuvo lleno de mucha diversión, actividades, actuaciones, cante y baile, y participantes disfrutando de comidas y bebidas tradicionales, como la paella y la sangria.

Los preparativos para El Rocio empiezan meses antes del evento y mucho trabajo entra en la logística y organización de las actividades que suceden durante el periodo de los tres dias. Gracias al comité y los voluntarios porque su trabajo y dedicación asegura un buen funcionamento de este evento popular.

Un gran agradecimiento para nuestros patrocinadores, City of Greater Bendigo y Victorian Multicultural Commission. Indudablemente, sin su apoyo y asociación, esta celebración no hubiera sido posible.

Tambien queremos dar las gracias al Grupo Andalucia de Geelong por su fraternidad, y el baile y cante flamenco para que todos disfrutemos. Realmente nos hace sentir que estamos en Andalucia, España cuando actuan.
